Launch Mission Manager - PMO
Your Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Launch Mission Management, the Launch Mission Manager - PMO is a key role in scaling RIDE!'s launch operations. As our mission portfolio grows, you help ensure that every launch campaign is planned, tracked and delivered with the same level of excellence.
This is an ideal first step into launch operations, with a clear growth path towards a Launch Mission Manager role. As Launch Mission Manager - PMO, you:
- Support the steering of the whole mission portfolio: consolidated planning, risk monitoring, team workload, processes and reporting.
- Progressively take on customer missions, first alongside an experienced Mission Manager, then with growing autonomy.
You work at the crossroads of three teams: the Mission Management team you support daily, the IT team developing our launch mission management tool, for which you are the key business interface, and the Sales team, with whom you secure a smooth handover once the Launch Service Agreement is signed.
You will be responsible for the following missions
Mission management
- Support experienced Mission Managers on customer missions, then progressively take ownership of simpler missions (e.g., cubesat or rideshare launches).
- Help prepare customer reviews and track contractual deliverables to ensure they are completed on time.
- Contribute to integration analyses, test activities and regulatory documentation (e.g., export licenses, frequency registrations).
Mission portfolio governance
- Build and maintain the master schedule of all customer missions, tracking key milestones across the portfolio.
- Monitor the health of each mission (schedule, budget, risks, deliverables) and flag deviations to the Head of Launch Mission Management.
- Prepare portfolio reviews and steering committees, with clear dashboards and KPIs for management.
- Maintain the consolidated risk register and follow up on mitigation actions with Mission Managers.
Resource & capacity planning
- Track subcontracts, task orders and supplier milestones in coordination with Mission Managers.
Processes & digital tooling
- Help standardize and continuously improve LMM processes, templates and project methodology (reviews, deliverables, documentation, lessons learned).
- Act as the day-to-day business interface with the IT team developing the LMM tool: gather and prioritize user needs, write specifications, test and validate releases, and drive adoption within the team.
- Ensure data quality in the tool so it becomes the single source of truth for mission tracking.
Interface with Sales
- Coordinate the Sales-to-LMM handover once the Launch Service Agreement is signed, ensuring all contractual commitments are clearly transferred.
- Give Sales visibility on team capacity and mission timelines to support realistic commitments in proposals.
- Contribute to the department's strategy, operational excellence and the 2027–2029 roadmap.
Profile Requirements
- Master's degree in engineering or equivalent, with a strong aerospace background.
- 0 to 2 years of experience: recent graduates are welcome, ideally with an internship or apprenticeship in project management, PMO or project control in the aerospace or space industry.
- Genuine interest in space launches; a first exposure to launch vehicles or satellite projects (internship, student CubeSat project, space association…) is a strong plus.
- Ability to understand technical constraints related to payload launch, and eagerness to learn fast.
- Solid grasp of project management fundamentals: planning, risk management and reporting.
- At ease with digital tools (project management software, Excel, PowerPoint) and keen to help shape a digital tool alongside an IT team.
- Process-minded, with a taste for structuring and simplifying.
- Highly detail-oriented, rigorous and organized.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to interact with experienced engineers, IT and Sales.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, structured and rapidly-scaling environment.
- Professional English is a must; professional French is a plus.
If you don't think you tick all the boxes, no worries — you can still apply. Sometimes we are looking for the moon but, in the end, we find a star.
