Revealing the Mission Patch: The RIDE! After Tomorrow, The Nepali’s Slippers2Sat cubesat is now in orbit.

(December 11th, 2025) – In the shadow of the Himalayas, where Nepal meets China, a remarkable journey has taken flight. Slippers2Sat (S2S), APN’s cubesat has been launched into orbit. The mission, named The RIDE! After Tomorrow,  takes inspiration from the title of the film The Day After Tomorrow, reimagined here as a symbol of the future these participants are actively shaping through their work. It is more than a project, it is a story of future, curiosity and education.

This Nepalese contributors took charge of every step of satellite development, from initial design to final integration, gaining real-world engineering experience in APN’s Space Systems Laboratory. Beyond their technical achievements, they infused the mission with the spirit of their homeland, bringing scientific curiosity and culture into every aspect of Slippers2Sat.

The mission patch itself tells this story. Represented by the boy and the girl, gaze in awe at the satellite they helped bring to life. Towering in front of them, Everest, the biggest mountain in the Himalayas, dominates the horizon, symbolizing this milestone reached and the collaboration between the two countries, Nepal and China. To one side, a traditional Nepali temple evokes the spiritual and cultural roots of the students’ journey. And a bright red Chinese dragon winds around the rocket, a talisman of luck and prosperity, acknowledging the regional context and the successful launch. The scene celebrates the origins of both participants of this mission launch and the intersection of science and culture.

The story of this mission is also a story of connection. Just as the Silk Road wove together China and distant lands through trade and culture, S2S links young Nepali minds to Europe through collaboration with RIDE! team.

With this mission, RIDE! has charted a path ensuring that the curiosity, courage, and creativity that brought Slippers2Sat to life will continue to inspire Nepal’s future in space. The RIDE! After Tomorrow is a celebration not just of a satellite, but a complete launch mission and a proof of perseverance, hard-work and the limitless potential of talented young minds.
